The day

What the day looks like

A full-day programme of research presentations, academic discussion and awards.

  1. am01Arrival & registrationSchools arrive together; pupils check in and collect the running order.
  2. 02Opening keynoteThe conference begins with an address from a leading researcher.
  3. 03Viva examinationsAll participants gather in the main hall before being called individually to defend their work before academics in their field. Each pupil receives written assessment.
  4. Lunch
  5. pm04Finalist presentationsEight finalists present their research to the full conference.
  6. 05Closing keynoteA second leading researcher addresses the conference.
  7. 06Awards & closePrizes and commendations are presented, followed by the formal close of the conference.

Any and all completed research is welcome.

Work that sits between fields, or outside all of them, is equally welcome. Nothing is out of scope: we judge on academic rigour, not on where the research files itself.

How to enter

Entries come through your school.

Three steps

Get your teacher to sign up.

You do not register yourself. A teacher creates one NSRC account and enters their pupils. That is how we verify every entry is genuine and properly supervised.

  1. Ask a teacher who knows your work: your subject teacher, head of department or research lead.
  2. Send them the teachers’ page. Registering takes one form.
  3. Once approved, they add you and your project title, and you are entered.
